Xiaodong Zhang obtained a BS degree in Medicine from Fourth Military Medical University, Xian, China, in 1984, an MSc degree in Pathology from Fourth Military Medical University, in 1990, and a Ph.D. degree from Fourth Military Medical University, in 1996, also in Pathology. He as a visiting scholar went to Keele University, UK, in 1997 and Heinrich Heine University, Germany, in 1998. Having completed his postdoctoral training in Tokyo University, Tokyo, Japan, he joined the faculty of Nankai University College of Life Sciences in 2000 as a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Tianjin, China. He is currently a Professor of Biochemistry in the College of Life Sciences, and Principle Investigator of the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology at Nankai University.
