HongkaiZhang holds a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from Nankai University (2004.9-2009.6, advisor: DrYoujia Cao) and B.S. degree in Biology from Nankai University (2000.9-2004.6). He joined Dr Richard A. Lerner laboratory at The Scripps Research Institute for postdoctoral training (2009.9-2013.10) and served as Senior Scientist(2013.10-2016.3). He joined the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology at Nankai University as a Senior Research Fellow in March,2016 and has been Visiting Investigator of The Scripps Research Institute since then.
Research in Zhang laboratory has focused on technology development, protein and antibody engineering and generation of drug candidates in multiple disease area.
Collaboration with our global industry and academic partners to discover and develop proprietary‘best-in-class’ human antibody and peptide drugs against well-validated drug targets in multiple disease areas.
Development of antibody, peptide and recombinant protein for pharmacological validation of novel drug targets and the translational research can lead to ‘first-in-class’ breakthrough medicine.
Development effective solution for the key problems in early stage biologics drug development,e.g.,discovery and development of antibody and peptide against challenging drug targets such as ion channels, integration of many technologies for more streamlined antibody affinity maturation method.
