Zhenjie Zhang obtained a B.S degree in chemistry from NankaiUniversityin 2006, a M.S degree fromNankai University in 2009,and a PH.D degree from University of South Florida in 2014. Having completed his postdoctoral training at University of California, San Diego, he joinedNankai University in 2016 as a Professor. He was awarded the China Government Young 1000 Talent Program (2015) and Tianjin Young 1000 Talent Program. He won the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad (2013) and ACS Young Investigator Award (2014).

Research in Zhang’s laboratory has focused on synthesis and application of porous materials including MOFs,COFs,porous cage;Design and synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymer based on coordination chemistry;drugco-crystal and polymorph. He discovered a templated directed synthesis method to prepared catalytic porphyrin encapsulating MOFs in 2012. He is the first person to employ organic polymers as ligands to prepare highly crystalline porous MOFs. He has published over 40 research papers and 16 papers as first author including four papers in J. Am. Chem. Soc., two papers in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., one paper in Chem. Sci. and one paper in Chem. Soc. Rev.
